The Cot size — twenty squares, eight animal friends, six calm colours.
What is the Little Meadow Blanket?
A complete, 25-page crochet pattern pack (instant PDF download) for a modern baby blanket built from one simple granny square. You make twenty squares in six coordinated colours, sew eight crocheted animal faces onto a few of them, join everything with one of two guided methods, and finish with a soft picot border. The pattern uses US crochet terms, DK cotton and a 3.5 mm hook (3.0 mm for the little faces).
| 25 pages, fully written | 8 animal appliqués | 3 blanket sizes |
Everything inside the pack
- The Meadow Square — one six-round granny square, with a full round-by-round stitch-count table
- Appliqué basics — the basic head disc and the three shapes every animal reuses
- Eight animal faces, each with its own page, piece counts, time estimate and level
- A printed layout & colour map so every square lands exactly where it should
- Two joining methods (flat whip stitch and slip-stitch ridge), border, blocking and care
- Abbreviations, gauge, sizing and yarn quantities for all three sizes
Meet the eight animals
Every face starts from the same little head disc, so once you have made one animal, the other seven feel familiar. Each one has its own page in the pack with step-by-step instructions and embroidery guidance.

A palette that always works
Five warm neutrals and one deep anchor, chosen so any two squares can sit side by side without clashing. Lay the blanket out however you like — it will still look considered.
● Oat Cream ● Warm Sand ● Fawn ● Terracotta ● Clay Rust ● Charcoal
Three sizes, one pattern
Make it small for a pram, generous for a cot, or big enough for a toddler bed — the same square, simply more of them. Yarn quantities are included for all three.
| Size | Squares | Finished | Yarn (50 g balls) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pram | 3 × 4 = 12 | 50 × 65 cm | approx. 8 |
| Cot | 4 × 5 = 20 | 64 × 79 cm | approx. 13 |
| Toddler | 5 × 6 = 30 | 78 × 93 cm | approx. 19 |
Ember the Fox — sleepy eyes, cream muzzle, terracotta square.
“Written for real life: every round ends with the stitch count you should have, and every animal tells you its level, its pieces and roughly how long it takes — before you pick up the hook.”
If you can chain, single crochet and double crochet, you can make this blanket. The trickier moments — joining, embroidery, the border — each get their own slow, step-by-step section, and the pack includes a practice plan for your very first square.
Made slowly, kept for years.
